Terry SutterExecutive Advisor
Terry Sutter is an Executive Advisor for Aurora.
In this role, he serves as an operating executive resource for the partners of both Resurgence and Private Equity. He has over 25 years of experience in various operating roles in refining, specialty chemicals, plastics, process automation and steel in roles ranging from R&D, M&A, operations and executive leadership. Mr. Sutter began his career with Pennzoil in R&D focusing on process development and modeling for lube oil refining. He subsequently spent the next 8 years with Morton International in the Specialty Chemicals Division in roles from project engineering, quality, manufacturing and ultimately as the business manager for Automotive Adhesives and Thermoplastic Polyurethanes. He then joined AlliedSignal, which ultimately became Honeywell, in the Specialty Chemicals Division and then Process Automation Division. His roles included business development, VP-GM Fluorine Products and President of Industrial Process Automation. In early 2003 he had an opportunity to join Tyco as one of the operating executives charged with turning around Tyco International as the President of Tyco Plastics and Adhesives. Subsequently selling one of the divisions to a strategic buyer and taking the Plastics, Adhesives and Coated Products business private. In his last role Mr. Sutter was Chief Operating Officer of Gerdau Ameristeel the second largest long steel producer in North America. During his tenure at Gerdau Ameristeel the team completed in excess of $5 billion of acquisitions across the entire value chain of the business including scrap operations, mills and downstream fabrication.
Mr. Sutter received an MBA from the University of Chicago, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
